Structural Technician - Senior Structural Technician

Grainger & Daniels Ltd are looking for a Structural Technician - Senior Structural Technician to join our newly formed Structures team. This is a full-time hybrid role located in our Bromsgrove office. This is a great opportunity for someone committed to developing their technical capability long term, who enjoys working collaboratively, and can contribute both within project teams and independently.

Key responsibilities & skills
- Produce high-quality structural detailing and technical outputs, including foundation solutions (strip, piled, raft) and superstructure detailing in RC, steel, masonry and timber, supported by robust checking procedures.
- Deliver drawings, models, schedules and supporting information using Autodesk tools (with CADS RC essential and Revit desirable), and operate confidently within common data environments.
- Work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams on residential, commercial and public sector schemes, liaising proactively with colleagues, senior staff, and other disciplines to support efficient delivery.
- Communicate regularly with clients and third parties to support project delivery, including fee/timescale discussions, performance feedback, and design submissions/approvals with authorities and agencies to meet programme and budget.
- Apply sound judgement and problem-solving, maintaining awareness of the broader engineering context, upholding department standards and procedures, and supporting business development and long-term progression (potential route to Principal Technician subject to performance/KPIs).

Qualifications & experience
- 2+ years’ relevant experience in structural detailing on residential and non-residential projects.
- Working towards (or interest in) Technician membership of ICE and/or IStructE (e.g., student member progressing to Technician grade).
- Working knowledge of structural standards and guidance, including British Standards/Eurocodes, and awareness of Building Control/NHBC processes.
- Proficient in AutoCAD (and Revit where applicable), with strong general IT capability including Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of CDM 2015 Designer duties, site/construction safety awareness, and a valid CSCS card (or ability to maintain one); full clean driving licence and own insured vehicle for business use.

Graduate Structural Engineer - Principal Structural Engineer

Grainger & Daniels Ltd are looking for Structural Engineers from Graduate through to Principal level to join our newly formed Structures team. This is a full-time hybrid role located in our Bromsgrove office. We’re looking for people committed to long-term technical development, motivated by progression, and able to work collaboratively within project teams while also taking ownership of tasks independently.

Key responsibilities & skills
- Deliver structural engineering design across a range of sectors, including foundation solutions (strip, piled, raft) and superstructure design in RC, steel, masonry and timber, in line with company standards and QA processes.
- Carry out inspections of existing buildings/structures, produce clear reports on findings, and develop practical recommendations for remedial works.
- Produce and coordinate technical deliverables (calculations, drawings/models, specifications/reports, schedules and related documentation), ensuring designs are effectively transferred into drawings and models.
- Work closely with engineers, technicians, civils colleagues and external parties, maintaining proactive client and stakeholder communication, supporting meetings, and managing third-party submissions/approvals to meet programme and budget.
- Use modern digital delivery methods and tools (including Autodesk software with Revit desirable, common data environments, and automation where appropriate) to improve efficiency, problem-solve effectively, and support client relationships and business growth.

Qualifications & experience
- Relevant engineering degree (or equivalent).
- Typically 2+ years’ structural design experience (depending on level) across residential and non-residential projects, with an interest in supporting business development.
- Membership/working towards professional status with ICE and/or IStructE, progressing toward Chartership (appropriate to level).
- Working knowledge of structural design principles and standards, including British Standards/Eurocodes, plus awareness of Building Control/NHBC processes and the appropriate use of analysis/design software.
- Strong IT skills (including Microsoft Office), ability to work independently and in teams, and CDM 2015 Designer duties / site safety awareness (with CSCS as applicable), plus full clean driving licence and own insured vehicle for business use.
